The Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools – CCMTS, was first established in 1998. We are a non-profit organization of Massage Therapy educators who have placed accountability and quality as the cornerstones of our training programs. As a national organization representing both public and private member programs, the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools has a unique perspective and influence on the educational landscape that exists across our great country. Whatever your role in this diverse and exciting profession be it student, therapist, educator, association or regulatory body we hope you join us in our pursuit of competent, innovative and accountable educational programs.

THE CANADIAN COUNCIL OF MASSAGE THERAPY SCHOOLS CORPORATE OBJECTIVES ARE:

To provide a forum for Member Schools which offers networking, support, professional development and mentoring

To provide a forum where the interest of Member Schools may be discussed

To be a voice for massage therapy education in Canada

To support the implementation of a standardized national accreditation process for massage therapy programs

To liaise with provincial, national and international organizations as appropriate to advance massage therapy education

To develop strategic alliances and partnerships to increase public utilization of massage therapy through promoting an understanding for the efficacy of massage therapy

To support scientific based research related to massage therapy practices and education

To support continuous education, learning and professional development of massage therapists and massage therapy educators

And to demonstrate the qualities and values of a healthy, responsive and professional organization

THE CANADIAN COUNCIL OF MASSAGE THERAPY SCHOOLS BELIEVES IN:

The efficacy of massage therapy as a health-care therapy

Supportive and inclusive professional relationships that build community

Discussion, dialogue and sharing

Protecting and promoting the interests of all members schools

The equitable representation of all schools or programs of study in massage regardless of the number of curriculum hours

Pro-active leadership at both the provincial and national levels

Educational excellence, including systems and processes such as national standardization and accreditation that fosters excellence

Increasing public utilization of massage therapy services by promoting a greater understanding of the value and benefits of massage therapy

Promoting professional development, continuing education and advanced level studies

Ethical and accountable practices in massage therapy

Creating opportunities for career mobility for massage therapists within the public post secondary education system
